Sufficiency and Judgment
It is curious that the words דָי satis, sufficiency and דִּין iudicare (damnare, punire, tueri)... sentence are so closely related - also seen in the name Dan, the judge. In Psalm 76:9 the earth fears and is quiet at the sentence from heaven. Does this relate in the thinking of Aramaic and Hebrew speakers of the first century? Do they necessarily extend the thought to the sufficiency and the means of atonement accomplished by the death of Jesus?
